FAQ

Questions about specialties

Short, direct answers about choosing a specialty, prices and availability abroad. Each answer is 50 words or fewer.

How many specialties does Health-Tourism.com cover?

45 specialties and 303 treatments, from addiction treatment to vascular surgery. Each specialty page lists hospitals and clinics, their doctors and starting prices by country, and you can request free quotes from up to three hospitals.

What is the difference between a specialty and a treatment?

A specialty is a field of medicine, such as orthopedic surgery. A treatment is a specific procedure within it, such as knee replacement. Search by treatment if you know it, or start from the specialty if you only know your condition.

Which specialty should I choose if I do not know my diagnosis?

Describe your symptoms and send any reports you have. A care coordinator suggests the right specialty, and the hospital's doctors confirm it after reviewing your records. Health-Tourism.com does not diagnose or give medical advice.

Why do some treatments show a price and others say price on request?

A starting price shows where hospitals list one for the treatment, converted to US dollars. Where none is listed, or the cost depends on your case, hospitals quote after reviewing your records.

Is every treatment available in every destination?

No. Availability depends on each hospital's licences, its accreditations and local law, which differ by country, for example for some fertility options. Every specialty page shows which countries and hospitals offer each treatment.

Can I get a second opinion from a specialist abroad?

Many hospitals offer a remote second opinion based on your scans and reports. It helps you check a diagnosis or treatment plan before you decide to travel; ask for one in your enquiry.

Found your specialty?

Send one enquiry and get treatment plans and prices from up to three hospitals.
